Established in 1993, Friends of the Children has a simple but remarkable goal: to provide the most vulnerable children a caring, supportive, and sustained relationship with an adult role model, called a Friend. Today Friends reaches thousands of children in communities across our nation. Our successful model is in 10 locations including Boston MA, Harlem and the South Bronx NY, Portland, Gresham and Klamath Falls, OR, San Francisco CA, Tampa Bay FL, and Cornwall, United Kingdom.

Thanks to our exceptional outcomes and relationships across the country, in 2016 and 2015 we have been named the Portland Business Journal’s #1 “Most Admired” Oregon nonprofit, and in 2014, we won the Social Impact Exchange National Business Plan competition in NYC, setting the stage for our scaling efforts.
